KDE 4.3: Kopete and Lancelot potential issues
Just a note – if you get larger than normal CPU usage when using Kopete and Lancelot at the same time in KDE 4.3, visit the BUG:196809
This should be fixed in 4.3.1. In the meanwhile you can disable the Kopete integration by doing the following:
open lancelotrc file (~/.kde/share/config/lancelotrc) with your favourite text editor and add the following line to the [Main] section
imPlugins=disabled

Hope this is good way to reach you… I am left wondering why the “suspend” option is not in lancelot. The default KDE shutdown dialog is just as bad by the way, by offering 3 options and a dropdown option. This seems more complicating than just offering 4 options.
Why is “suspend” so out of fashion? It is an option I use more than shutdown. Definitely on Linux, there is not much reason for shutdown.

Thanks for the work though. Really enjoy lancelot.

@snirp: You can set up the buttons, so you can put the ‘suspend to ram’ instead of any of the buttons.
p.s. Nice avatar

Man, you are quick. I was just dropping by to tell you that I found out myself. That is great advertising for your application, right?
Criticism on KDE still stands, but I guess there is a place for that as well.

@snirp: Yeah
Heh, I recognized it as a cover of Atom Heart Mother, not as a Holland thing

Nice to see issues being fixed. I was wondering about another thing with Lancelot … I can’t get it to see other “sessions”, after using “Switch user” to switch to another user, it still just shows “new session”, even though I’m logged in now with two users, and if I switch to kickoff, it properly detects it … any clues?

@zegenie: That is reported on BKO, but I haven’t got the time to test it yet. I hope I’ll deal with it for 4.3.1.

Ah, ok, that’s fine then
It’s one of those unfortunate things that keeps my better half annoyed using KDE …

I didn’t know people still uses kopete. I stopped using kopete in favour of pidgin few weeks back.
Comment by Jithin — 8 August 2009 @ 06:29
@Jithin: A very strange comment I must say.
Not simply because it looks like you expect other people to be like you, but rather because you’ve used Kopete only a few weeks back.

@Ivan Čukić:
I have been using kopete for 2 years. I used it because it came with kde. But recently with kde 4 series its not working properly.
Properly means without any crashes. It crashes if I change status to offline from toolbar. It crashes if Now Playing Plugin is enabled and amarok is playing.
And worse of all with yahoo plugin. I am losing messages.
Comment by Jithin — 8 August 2009 @ 12:22
@Jithin: It is ok to stop using kopete if it doesn’t work for you, but still, being surprised that somebody else is using it is beyond my comprehension.
I can’t recall when was the last time Kopete crashed on me…

I’d love to use it with keyboard only – doesn’t seem possible, though? Allowing using tab to change menus and access bottom buttons would be grand.
Comment by lucke — 8 August 2009 @ 12:41
@lucke: Nice idea, file a feature request at BKO.
