@morpheuz The classic doctors range from irritating to cool. It is hard to compare them, but (IMO) only Baker can be compared to Tennant. 2 days ago
@morpheuz p.s. I didn't watch Sherlock yet. I'm currently watching classic DW (with a few excursions to the modern world) :) 2 days ago
@morpheuz It was the creepy gas-masked-child. It's not the plot for which I checked the writer this time (unlike Blink), but sentences in it 2 days ago
Watching again #Doctor #Who "The Empty Child" ... checked the writer, and surprise, surprise, it is Moffat. The guy is a genius. BLINK! 3 days ago
@Stefan: The bars (as in dolphin) would mean making a custom widget for the list view that can show the bars.
I’m trying to keep everything in Lancelot generic enough with a complete model-view separation, so introducing a widget just for a specific model is not an option.
Hi, nice to have this option to know the disk usage from Lancelot, but as other people have said, the Dolphin or the Device Notifier idea of bars seems to me to be more intuitive, I mean, I can know better and faster how much percentage does it mean. Also the lines/bars give you a cleaner interface, it is better integrated with the whole DE.
Imagine if all apps would use different methods to display this information.
If they are not perspective correct it looks not nice.
Please, consider the option to use the same lines/bars as Dolphin or Device Notifier.
@Ivan Čukić: Contrary to the other commenters here I actually prefer pies as well, so please keep them. Maybe it can be merged with the lines/bars as Dolphin or Device Notifier so I can choose to have pies there as well.
For all bar-related comments, see one of the above comments.
When the usability is concerned, bars are more desired when comparing multiple statistical variables (national growth per year), while when percentages are concerned, pies are the way to go (and to increase the usability even more – these are color coded – from blue, through yellow to red).
You could scale the icon to, say, 85% size. Then on the right (or left, for right-to-left languages), you could dislay a vertical bar displaying the fill ratio. That way, all is still just an icon, but with a bar in it.
Looks like the current approach could look weird with some different iconset (especially with more colorful one, one could have difficulties noticing the pie on top of it).

While I personally prefer the appearance of the pie chart (from looking at the screenshots) I must say that the quote above from litb may be the most valid argument in favor of bars that I’ve read yet in the comments on both of the posts I’ve read about this feature.
If there is no chance of adding an option for bars, then at least some way to make the pies stand out more clearly separated from the icon might be worth thinking about, just to clear away that little concern once and for all. (Perhaps some kind of shadow or border added to the pie to make it stand out a bit more clearly.)
@Ivan Čukić: May I say that Lancelot is currently my favorite launcher menu of all. Better by far than my previous favorite (“TastyMenu” on KDE3). Keep up the great work.

@Silver Knight: Any idea on how to make them stand out?
“@Ivan Čukić: May I say that Lancelot is currently my favorite launcher…”
Yes you may The TastyMenu was my choice also in KDE3.
Maybe you should use ‘lines’, as in Dolphin…
Nice feature!
Thanks!
Hvala.

Nice.
Have you thought about making the pies perspective-correct according to the icons?
Comment by inful — 7 February 2010 @ 23:24
Nice. Thank you for making this for us…
Comment by Kyrre — 7 February 2010 @ 23:28
@inful: It isn’t really possible – different icon sets have different icons, thus having different perspectives.

mmmm pie. The pies look great. I think they are probably clearer than bars too.

Is impossible to add an option to view bars insted of pies? If it easy why don’t let people choice what is better for them? Freedom of choice
PS, i like pies…
