After a few pre-ordered distro-branded versions* of Stipes, the K.I.A. (KDE Independent Artists) is proud to present a new feature wallpaper directed by the one and only, the author of “Plan 9″ and “Glen or Glenda”, the memorable Ed Wood.
Here comes “The Cabbage of the Universe”.
This one is dedicated to two rather silly sods – Guillermo “¡Cuidado, las llamas!” Amaral and Paul “the Scotsman on a Horse” Adams and their fascination with cabbage.

* I’m not publishing those on the blog for one main reason – they need to look fresh when the distros start shipping with them.

It is nice that when you have something large to recompile, you can spend the time doing small things like breaking apart the Arch Linux logo and creating a new branded version of Stripes.
Just as before, you’re getting one version with original colour of the wallpaper, and one that uses distro’s colour. I’ve used the colour from the logo – a stronger shade of blue
I’ve spent some time with both of them on my desktop, and although the “strong” version doesn’t look anything special in a thumbnail, it is rather pleasant to use.

Previous wallpapers were just posted as previews here on the blog, but since this was not requested by the distro-art-managers of Arch, but only users, it will probably not end up as a part of the distro.
Edit Thanks to Pier for the hint, you can download the wallpapers from dropbox or sendspace. And I’ve added them to kde-look, so you can install them via GHNS.

I bet nobody expected this (I didn’t) – the next distro-branded version of stripes is for freeBSD. The freeBSD logo is quite pretty, but distorting it ruins it beyound recognition. For this reason, the wallpaper has much less depth than the previous ones.
One is the obligatory blue (not to say vanilla version) and the other one is redish)

KDE be free…
And here’s the first attempt of making a KDE-branded one… I’m not yet satisfied with it, this is only a preview.
